AI connections
Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity to selected teams and manage their access.
Choose your assistant
Slackalendar connects to Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity through remote MCP. Each assistant has its own connection and approval. Your assistant account must allow custom connectors; menus and availability vary.
Connect and approve access
- 01In Settings → AI connections, copy the Remote MCP URL and open your assistant's setup guide. On Slackalendar.com, use https://slackalendar.com/mcp.
- 02Add Slackalendar as a remote connector in the assistant. Use OAuth authentication and Streamable HTTP when those options are shown. No shared API key or local server is required.
- 03Sign in to Slackalendar and select one company, the teams to share and an access duration from 1 to 90 days (30 by default). Leave task-status changes unchecked for read-only access.
- 04Choose Allow access and return to your assistant. If Access approved stays open, use its Continue link. Enable Slackalendar in the conversation if needed.
Create a custom-client credential is only for your own API integrations, not a required step for these four assistants. Never share passwords, client secrets, codes or tokens in chat.
What assistants can do
Read-only access lets an assistant find approved teams, read workflows and tags, search tasks, and summarize task details, custom fields, comments and history.
- The five read tools are list_teams, get_team_workflow, list_tasks, get_task and get_task_activity.
- Optional change_task_status access can change team-workflow status only. Assignment defaults, automations, recurrence and notifications may run as a result. It cannot change independent Project Dashboard statuses.
- Assistants cannot create or delete tasks, edit descriptions or comments, change assignees or dates directly, manage members or billing, or perform administrator actions.
- Access is limited to the selected teams and your current permissions. A dashboard-only invitation does not grant source-team task access.
Read-only connections stay read-only. To enable optional status changes, reconnect and explicitly approve them; a prompt cannot grant new permissions.
Review or remove a connection
- 01Open Settings → AI connections to review each approval's company, teams, permissions, expiry and last use.
- 02Choose Revoke on the connection you want to remove. Removing or disabling a connector in an assistant is not proof that its Slackalendar authorization was revoked.
- 03When access expires, reconnect from that assistant and approve only the access you still need. Other assistant connections do not need to be changed.
Custom client details and credential creation are collapsed under their own controls. Custom credentials are shown once; store them securely and revoke them when no longer needed.
Test or troubleshoot
Ask: Using Slackalendar, list the teams I can access, then show up to five tasks from [your team name]. Do not change anything.
- Then ask: Using Slackalendar, open the first task and summarize its description and recent activity. Do not change anything.
- A connected badge or tool list alone does not confirm task reads. Enable/select Slackalendar in the conversation and check both answers.
- If access is denied, check your account, team membership, selected teams and expiry. Do not broaden permissions to troubleshoot.
- If approval stalls, use Continue or start a fresh connection attempt. Do not reuse old authorization links. Share only redacted error text, never full authorization URLs, codes, tokens or private task contents.
