Connect Gemini to Slackalendar
Connect Gemini with read-only access to selected teams, then verify task reads and follow-up questions.

Check Gemini availability and privacy
Google currently requires a personal Google Account, age 18 or over, in the US, English, and Keep Activity turned on to connect custom apps. Work or school Google Accounts are not supported for this feature. Review Google's activity and data-sharing settings before deciding to enable it; Slackalendar does not change them for you.
- Start setup in the Gemini web app. Google documents using the connected app on both web and mobile after connecting on the web.
- This is a personal custom MCP connection, not a Google marketplace listing or an embedded Gemini assistant inside Slackalendar.
- MCP access is separate from Sign in with Google and Google Calendar sync. Do not edit Google Cloud OAuth clients, Calendar scopes or existing Google credentials to connect Gemini.
- Each person approves their own Slackalendar account, company and teams. Do not share an administrator's credentials or connection.
- Claude and ChatGPT connections stay separate and unchanged. Gemini hosted connection verification is the next step; Perplexity comes after that confirmation.
Add Slackalendar in Gemini Connected Apps
- 01Sign in to Slackalendar, open Settings → AI connections, and copy Remote MCP. On Slackalendar.com the URL is https://slackalendar.com/mcp.
- 02On a computer, open gemini.google.com and choose Settings → Connected Apps. If needed, open Personal Intelligence → Connected Apps, or go to https://gemini.google.com/apps.
- 03Under Custom apps, choose Add a custom app or use the Add a custom app link to get started field.
- 04Paste the Remote MCP URL and choose Next. Slackalendar supports dynamic client registration (DCR), public-client authentication (none) and S256 PKCE. You do not need Advanced features credentials for the DCR path.
- 05Follow Gemini's prompts to review the app and open Slackalendar authorization. Do not paste a Google API key, personal Slackalendar API credential or client secret.
Keep in mind
If Custom apps is unavailable, check Google's account, region, age, language and activity requirements first. Do not bypass an organization policy, change Google Cloud OAuth settings or weaken Slackalendar authentication. If Gemini requires credentials instead of discovering DCR, stop and report the visible fields with private details removed.

Authorize selected teams with read-only access
- 01Sign in to Slackalendar if prompted, return to the authorization tab, and choose Continue.
- 02Select one company, specific teams and a duration from 1 to 90 days (30 by default).
- 03Leave task-status changes unchecked. An optional permission request does not authorize writes unless you approve them.
- 04Choose Allow access. Slackalendar shows a brief Access approved page and returns to Gemini automatically. If that page stays open, use Continue to Google (or the displayed client name). If tools are shown, expect five read tools and no change_task_status tool.
- 05Open a new Gemini conversation and type @ to select Slackalendar so Gemini uses the custom app for your request.
Keep in mind
A dashboard-only invitation does not grant source-team task access. Keep the existing Claude and ChatGPT approvals unchanged. Do not enable status writes to troubleshoot a connection.

Test task reads and follow-up communication
Select @Slackalendar and ask: Use Slackalendar to list the teams I can access, then show up to five tasks from [your team name]. Do not change anything.
- For a follow-up, select @Slackalendar again if needed and ask: Using Slackalendar, open the first task and summarize its description and recent activity. Do not change anything.
- list_teams discovers approved teams you can still access; get_team_workflow reads ordered team statuses and available tags.
- list_tasks searches authorized tasks by title, description, tags and metadata, with status/archive filters and pagination.
- get_task reads a task and saved custom values; get_task_activity reads comments and history.
- Read-only grants cannot change team or Project Dashboard statuses. No task creation, deletion, description/comment editing, assignment/date changes, billing, membership or administrator actions are available.
Keep in mind
A connected badge or tool list alone does not confirm task reads. Check both answers and share only redacted errors, not private task contents, tokens, codes or callback URLs.

Troubleshoot or disconnect Gemini
- 01If a response does not use Slackalendar, explicitly select it with @ and retry. Check the app is enabled in Connected Apps.
- 02If approval stalls, start a fresh connection attempt instead of reusing an old or consumed authorization link.
- 03For invalid_request, share only the error text or a screenshot without the address bar. Do not share the full authorization URL or state, weaken security checks or change Google Cloud settings.
- 04If access is denied, check the Slackalendar sign-in account, approved teams, current membership and connection expiry. Do not broaden permissions just to troubleshoot.
- 05Review the connection under Slackalendar Settings → AI connections. Revoke only Gemini if you want to remove its Slackalendar access; leave working Claude and ChatGPT connections alone.
- 06Google distinguishes turning an app off from unlinking its authorization. To unlink, use Connected Apps → the custom app → More details → Disconnect, or remove the app. Use Slackalendar's Revoke control when you need to invalidate its grant on Slackalendar.
- 07If a long-unused connection cannot renew or reports invalid_client, create a fresh Gemini connection and approve access again.
