FIELD GUIDE 24 / 25
Find tasks with sidebar and team search
Search task details across accessible teams or narrow one team's views, including archived work.
Product guide 4 sections
Search across your selected company
- 01Check the organization selector above the sidebar navigation. On mobile, open the sidebar with the header navigation toggle first.
- 02Enter 2–200 characters in Search tasks. Surrounding whitespace is ignored. Wait for the results to finish loading.
- 03Choose the matching task and team name. The result opens that exact task in its team, not just the team page. Archived results carry an Archived label.
Keep in mind
Sidebar search includes active and archived tasks in non-archived teams where you have active team access in the selected company. It does not search every company or every team. Company ownership or a Project Dashboard invitation alone does not grant general task search.

Search within a team and combine filters
- 01Open the team's page and use Search this team's tasks above the task views. The same search applies across List, Kanban, Board, Calendar, Table and Timeline.
- 02The team page starts with Active tasks. Choose Archived or All to include archived work. Tag filters also narrow the results; List status tabs can narrow them further.
- 03Clear the search and choose Clear tags to broaden the view. Check the archive selection and select All in the List status tabs when needed.
Keep in mind
My Tasks group status/priority controls and Project Dashboard search are separate from team task search. Dashboard guests search only the selections shared with them; their invitation does not unlock sidebar or team search.

What matches and what does not
Example: a task called Draft launch copy, tagged Website, assigned to Alex and due 2026-11-05 can match website alex 2026-11-05 even though the words are in different fields. WEBSITE draft also matches. website packaging will not match unless packaging is somewhere in that same task's searchable content.
- Search is case-insensitive. Every whitespace-separated word must match somewhere in the same task's searchable content, even across different fields. Partial text matches are supported; quotes are not a special exact-phrase control.
- Searchable fields are title, plain-text description, assigned tag names (also called keywords), team name, task ID, priority, status key and visible status name, assignee and creator names/emails, and due date in YYYY-MM-DD form.
- The words recurring and archived match tasks with those properties. A saved custom workflow stage remains searchable even if its overdue task also appears in Past Due discovery.
- Comments, file names and file contents, custom-field values and unused team tag definitions are not searched. Description formatting is searched as readable text, not as markup.
- Percent signs, underscores and backslashes are literal characters, not search wildcards. There is no OR operator or separate assignee filter created by typing a person's name.
Recover missing results
- 01Check the signed-in account, selected company and active team membership. Ask an owner about access if the team is missing; an old link or shared-dashboard role does not restore team access.
- 02Try one distinctive word of at least two characters, then add terms one at a time. Check spelling, assignee versus creator identity, the YYYY-MM-DD date and whether the text is only in an excluded field.
- 03In team search, clear tags and broaden archive and List status filters. In sidebar search, archived tasks are already included; look for the Archived label and the correct team name.
- 04If a task appears in search but not Calendar, check its due date and the visible calendar period. Tasks without dates cannot appear there. A filter or view difference does not mean the task was deleted.
- 05For a search error, use Try again where offered after checking connectivity. An error or loading state is not an empty result. If access changed after results loaded, reopen the current team rather than repeatedly following a stale result.
