FIELD GUIDE 20 / 21

Understand member online and offline indicators

Read the connection indicators in authorized rosters without confusing app connectivity with Slack availability or employee activity.

Product guide 2 sections

Read the indicator

  • Online means Slackalendar has a recent authenticated app connection for that person in the selected company. An open connected background tab can count.
  • Offline means there is no current connection recorded in that authorized roster. A saved login cookie alone does not make someone online.
  • Status unavailable means connection status could not be checked reliably. Do not interpret it as Offline.
Keep in mind
This is not Slack availability, proof someone is looking at the app, attendance tracking or a last-seen history. Pending invitees and Slack-only identities without a web connection are not online.

Where to check and troubleshoot

  1. 01Open the team's Members card or the company roster you are already authorized to view.
  2. 02Check the text label as well as the dot. Membership roles and active/suspended access are separate from connection status.
  3. 03If status is unavailable or seems delayed after sleep or reconnection, check connectivity and return focus to the page so it can refresh.
Keep in mind
Indicators update after connection checks; they are not instantaneous. This feature does not expose a broader directory or grant additional roster access.
